Why Bathrooms Are Where Cheap Renovations Fail Fastest

A bathroom that isn't tanked properly, ventilated correctly or fitted with the right substrate behind the tiles will fail within a few years. We see it every season — leaks behind tiles, mould in poorly extracted rooms, soft floors under shower trays. All of it preventable.

Our bathroom renovations are built around the things that don't show: waterproofing membranes, decent extract fans, marine-grade tile backer boards, properly bedded trays and silicone joints that actually last.

Wet Rooms vs Traditional Shower Enclosures

A wet room — a fully tanked shower area with a level-access floor — gives a beautiful open look and works well in smaller spaces or where accessibility matters. They cost a little more upfront because of the extra waterproofing and floor build-up, but the result is hard to beat.

Traditional enclosures (shower tray, screen, glass door) are often the more practical option in family bathrooms. We fit both — and we'll be honest about which suits your room better before we quote.

Ventilation: The Most Overlooked Spec

Building Regulations require mechanical extraction in any bathroom or shower room without an opening window. Even with a window, a decent extractor is the difference between a bathroom that stays mould-free and one that needs repainting every year.

We fit timed and humidity-sensing extractors as standard, ducted properly to outside — never just into the loft.

FAQ

Common Questions

Often yes — a clever layout and a slimline shower tray can free up surprising amounts of space. Wet rooms are particularly good in tight footprints because there's no enclosure taking up floor area.
