The Job Is Half Below the Floor

Most flooring failures — bouncing planks, cracked grout joints, lifting vinyl — come down to one thing: the sub-floor wasn't prepared. We self-level uneven concrete, replace soft floorboards, and lay damp-proof membrane where needed.

It adds a day or two to the job. It also adds 10+ years to the life of the floor.

Choosing the Right Floor for the Room

Kitchen and bathroom: ceramic or porcelain tiles, LVT, or sheet vinyl. All three handle moisture and footfall properly.

Living rooms and bedrooms: engineered hardwood gives the warmest underfoot feel; laminate and LVT are more forgiving with kids and pets.

Hallways and entrances: porcelain tiles or commercial-grade LVT — designed for the highest wear areas of the home.

Underfloor Heating Compatibility

Most modern flooring works with underfloor heating, but the build-up matters. We work with you and your UFH supplier to make sure the floor finish, adhesive and build-up height all meet the manufacturer's spec.

The Process

A Proper Flooring Process

  1. 01

    Site Survey

Measure up, assess sub-floor condition, identify any moisture or level issues.

  2. 02

    Lift Existing Floor

Old flooring removed and disposed of cleanly.

  3. 03

    Sub-Floor Prep

Levelling, screeding, DPM, plywood overlay or board replacement as required.

  4. 04

    Acclimatisation

Wood and laminate flooring left in the room for 48 hours to acclimatise to humidity.

  5. 05

    Layout Planning

Tile/plank direction, cuts at room edges and door thresholds set out before fixing.

  6. 06

    Installation

Adhesive, click-fit or grouted as appropriate, with movement gaps and matching trims.

FAQ

Common Questions

LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) is a hard-wearing vinyl plank or tile — typically 4–6mm thick — that looks and feels like wood or stone but handles water, footfall and pets brilliantly. It's now the most popular finish for kitchens, hallways and bathrooms.
